Sarah's focus was simplicity; she wanted the site to highlight the books she published, with a color scheme based on her logo, so we came up with something simple yet interesting.

With this option, you get a custom-built site that focuses on you and your book(s). The site can be centered around a specific book or around you as an author with the book featured. The site can serve as a place where you send people to get your media kit, have a small blurb from the book, post reviews of the book, etc ... anything that comes to mind.
This is my site for my own book, focused on nothing but selling the book and the author.
Remember, this site is designed based on what focus you want!
Your site will be anywhere between 5 and 10 pages, Search Engine Optimized (SEO) and submitted to the most popular search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.). You will also have access to raw site stats.
The monthly hosting fee is $15, and included with this is any help you need on the site in the future; if you want to make changes to the site and it only takes me a few minutes, I don't charge you because I'm hosting you, and that comes with my service.
Examples of this are: adding a review, adding a graphic, updating text, posting an announcement, etc. As long as you don't work me like a dog, it's free. If I feel like the change will take some time, I'll quote you a price for the change.

Option 1 plus the following features with your website:
- You'll have a Blog section, easily updated from a back end. If you can point, click and type, you can run your own website!
- You can upload your own photos easily.
- Modules like forums, newsletters and photo albums can easily be installed in the future.
- You'll have access to your site stats that are easy to understand and use.
- Your site can be an unlimited number of pages because you control the content.
The monthly hosting fee is $20, and included with this is any help you need on the site in the future. I'll have the site where you can make easy content changes yourself at your own leisure:
- add an entry to your blog
- add special news
- add reviews
- add photos, etc.
This site's focus was writing, and lots of it. The design hints at an informal feel with overtones of humor. The color scheme is a palette of neutrals with a splash of color here and there to create a site that's easy on the eyes.
Other changes like adding a new book page might take some special stuff like cleaning up your book photo and making special graphics. If doing these items only takes me a few minutes, I don't charge you because I'm hosting you. It's my way of keeping my people happy and helping them succeed.
But if you want something special added ... like a photo album or some other module, I charge $60/hour based on 15-minute increments. In the end, I'm good and affordable. I'm not out to gouge you. I welcome you to compare my prices and services to others out there.
On the design, here's what I would need you to be thinking about:
- Think of possible names for your site depending on what you want to focus on. YourName.com? YourBookName.com? You can check availability here: Whois.sc
- Find me at least 3 sites around the web that do what you're looking to do. Jot down what you like about each one: The layout? The colors? Etc.
- Decide on a color scheme you might like, from the above websites or some that are completely different. Blues? Beiges? Neutrals? Tan with Red logo? etc.
- If you want a logo done, see if you can find some close to what you picture in your mind. If not, I'll just go on my own ... I like to keep them simple with a small graphical element ... but that's entirely up to you.
- And be thinking of what pages you actually want on your site: My Bio, My Books, Articles, Short Stories, etc ... notice these things on the similar websites you visit. Note them as a starting point; we can always add some later, but this will give me a good place to begin.
